Earlier today, Industry Minister James Moore announced Digital Canada 150, a comprehensive strategy for Canada's digital future. Notably, the Digital Canada 150 initiative includes plans to "strengthen the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act to better protect the online privacy of all Canadians." The initiative also outlines plans for new measures to secure communications networks and devices from threats in order to protect privacy. Along with the announcement, a Digital Canada 150 strategy document was also released outlining the initiative in further detail.
We will be discussing Digital Canada 150 and the plans to amend PIPEDA on our next monthly privacy call, which will take place on April 23, 2014 at 11:30 am EDT. Please visit our events page to sign up for the April monthly privacy call and for more information on all upcoming events.
